You may or may not be happy to hear this, but we’re now closer to Christmas than we are to the beginning of 2017. Summer is a quiet period for a lot of businesses, so what better time to pause, take stock of what’s happened so far this year, and think about your plans for the run-up to the festive season? I know it seems like a long way away, but as marketers we need to be prepared. It won’t be too long before the nights start drawing in, fireworks are lighting up the sky, and the shops are full of tinsel. (I’m a winter baby – if you’re not and I’ve just spoilt your summer vibes, I am very sorry.)

So in the spirit of looking backwards and forwards at the same time, here are the top five most popular posts on the SilverDisc blog so far in 2016, which just may give you a little inspiration for how you’ll spend the rest of the year.

5. Bing Ads: How Do Expanded Text Ads Compare With Standard Text Ads?
By Jason, 3rd March 2017

If you haven’t already dabbled in Bing Ads and you’re experiencing a quiet period now that the school holidays are in full swing, you might want to give it a try. Jason has written a few blog posts to help you get to grips with Bing Ads, including taking a look at their expanded text ads. My blog post from a couple of weeks ago, Who Uses Bing As Their Search Engine? is also a good place to start.

4. KFC Gets Facebook Fans Talking With Clean Eating Campaign
By Sam, 24th February 2017

KFC made quite an impression earlier this year by poking fun at the “clean eating” trend while simultaneously reminding everyone how good it feels to stuff our faces with fried chicken. If your marketing needs an injection of humour, satire, or just a bit more life, then read this for some inspiration and maybe you’ll come up with your next great campaign.

3. Our Account Management Training Day with Brian Maleham
By Jess, 17th March 2017

In March we enjoyed some training with BDM solutions to help us to improve our account management. But that’s just one area where we like to hone our skills. Digital marketing changes all the time, with lots to read up on about SEO, Google’s latest changes and products, and new PPC features. There’s never enough time in the day to catch up with everything, so you may need to set aside some time to dedicate to learning – not just during your quieter months, but as regularly as possible.

2. Business Times - Improving Your Search Engine Appearance For Brand and Local Terms
By Chris, 11th January 2017

At the end of last year we launched a new website for local business news source Business Times. As Chris explains in his blog post, Business Times presents a great opportunity for local businesses to increase their online visibility. Read on to find out more about Business Times and how it could benefit you – if you’re not local to Northamptonshire, you can still get some pointers for improving your local search rankings.

1. What Is CEO Fraud, and How Can It Affect You and Your Business?
By Jess, 2nd June 2017

Finally, our most popular blog post so far this year tackles CEO fraud, and it’s a continuation of a conversation about some of the most important issues for online businesses today – cyber security. As we have discovered with the NHS ransomware attack earlier this year and the hacking stories that seem to make the news more and more often, online security and cybercrime is everyone’s problem. If your website and data is not protected, or your staff are not knowledgeable or prepared, there is no time like the present to change this. Our blog post Five Ways To Protect Your SME Against Ransomware tells you how to get started.

We hope you’re having a successful year so far and that the rest of the year continues to go well. If there is anything we can do to help with that in terms of website building, design, security or marketing, do let us know!
