Ever been hacked… off?
2nd March 2016
This month we’re thrilled to be hosting an event for businesses around Northamptonshire (and for those coming from further afield, of course!) that aims to raise awareness and educate about cyber security and encourage business resilience. It’s a non-profit event and brings you a fantastic line-up of speakers, which I’ll get to later. Oh, and don’t forget the cooked lunch!
21st March – 8.30 am to 5.00 pm – Northants County Cricket Ground
What’s the event all about?
In a nutshell, we’ll be talking about:
- National threats online
- Cybercrime
- Cyber security and how it could affect your business
- Online hacking
- Business Resilience and how to fight back

Who’s the event for?
The great thing about this event is it’s suitable for everyone. Yes, we say it’s primarily for business owners, but actually, it is a great opportunity for pretty much anyone who’s online to improve their knowledge. Perhaps you’re a worried parent, and understand the risks of your child being online without supervision and guidance. Or maybe you run a charity and want to ensure everything runs as it’s supposed to without the worry of cyber threats or hackers. Well, we’re the people to help you.
So, why are SilverDisc hosting this event?
Well, we are an online marketing company, and we’re proud to say we’re up to date. Not only do we manage the online marketing for our clients, but we also build and manage their websites and everything that comes with it. This means being at the top of our game where online security is concerned, and protecting ourselves and our clients online will always be a top priority. The topics covered at the event will be highly relevant for today’s online world, and you won’t be left in the dark about anything.
Who will be speaking?
Now it’s time to big up our speakers. Well, truth be told, their reputations and expertise do that for us, so here’s who’ll be talking at our event:
- Richard Bach - Assistant Director, Cyber Security, Digital Economy Unit, Department of Culture, Media & Sport.
- Marc Wheelhouse - Professional in Information Systems Security and Security & Risk Advisory, and a Lead Enterprise Security Consultant with the Vodaphone UK Cyber Security Practice.
- William Rimington - Leads the PwC's UK Threat and Vulnerability Management (TVM) team and the wider Cyber Security team within one of the London business units.
- Michala Hart - Head of Channel Strategy, Exponential-e
- Stuart Green - Managing Director, SJG Digital
- Damian Walton - Director of Professional Services, IntaForensics
- Aaron Yates - Managing Director, Berea
- Carole Walton - Detective Sergeant, East Midlands Police, Cyber Crime Unit
And hosting it all is our very own Managing Director, Alan Perkins. We’re a little biased of course, but he really knows his stuff, and he’ll be holding the whole thing together for us – organised, passionate, and having a decent sense of humour means we’re pretty confident he’ll do a good job!
